Boris Johnson puts his foot in it by apparently wearing same socks for three out of past four days

BORIS Johnson appears to have worn the same eye-catching socks for three of the past four days.

The Tory leader hopeful has revamped his scruffy look over the past year, but seems to have slipped up this week when it got to his socks.

In his bid to become the next Prime Minister, Johnson has been interviewing and campaigning all over the country.

He has been repeatedly photographed sitting down over the past few days, with his ankles on show.

But eagle-eyed people have noticed the former Foreign Secretary has either got a passion for the same style, or has failed to find a clean pair of socks.

He was first seen in the jazzy design at the first hustings at Birmingham with his rival Jeremy Hunt.

It looked like he had got dressed in a hurry on Saturday, with one sock looking inside out.

Then on Monday, while talking to the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg, he donned the same style – as he repeatedly declined to answer questions about a blazing row with his girlfriend, which saw police called to his home.

Yesterday, as he told talkRADIO’s Ross Kempsall about his surprising passion for painting buses, he sat with a leg up on one knee – again wearing the colourful socks.

An aide has insisted each time Johnson has been seen in the items, they have been different pairs, as he owns “multiple pairs of similar patterned socks”.

LEADERSHIP FIGHT

The spat between Johnson and girlfriend Carrie Symonds led to senior Tories voicing concerns Johnson had ruined his chances to get into No10 over the row.

Cops were called South London flat the PM hopeful shares with Carrie after she was heard screaming “get off me”, on Friday morning.

Fearful neighbours called 999 over concerns for the 31-year-old spin doctor but Scotland Yard confirmed no offence had taken place.

Officers were scrambled to the home in Camberwell just after midnight yesterday as the blazing row erupted.

One neighbour said they heard what appeared to be an angry confrontation and recorded it because they feared for Carrie’s safety.

‘GET OUT’

In the recording, Mr Johnson can allegedly be heard refusing to leave the flat and telling his girlfriend to “get off my f***ing laptop” before a loud crash is heard.

Carrie then reportedly told him he had ruined a sofa with red wine and added: “You just don’t care for anything because you’re spoilt. You have no care for money or anything.”

The neighbour said: “There was a smashing sound of what sounded like plates.

“There were a couple of very loud screams that I’m certain were Carrie and she was shouting to ‘get out’ a lot.

“She was saying ‘get out of my flat’ and he was saying no. And then there was silence after the screaming.

“My wife, who was in bed half asleep, had heard a loud bang and the house shook.”

In a series of interviews Johnson has repeatedly dodged being quizzed about the explosive row.

The Tory leadership frontrunner has faced spiralling demands to explain his midnight clash, but has insisted he won’t talk about it.

In an interview with the BBC’s Political Editor Laura Kuenssberg, he explained his vow of silence, saying: “I would love to tell you about all sorts of things Laura, but I’ve made it a rule over many, many years I do not talk about stuff involving my family, my loved ones.”

And on Monday the pair were photographed sharing a tender moment at a garden table on Sunday evening at a hideaway house in Sussex.
