Boris Johnson and Donald Trump to meet for the first time as world leaders with breakfast at G7

BORIS Johnson is set to meet Donald Trump for the first time as world leaders – as the pair have breakfast on Sunday at the G7.

The two blonde bombshells are to have one-on-one discussions when they fly into the international summit in the south of France tomorrow.

It’s expected that will include breakfast together on the Sunday, Bloomberg reported today.

The pair have had at least four phonec-alls since Boris came into No10 last month, and the President has spoken highly of Britain’s new PM.

The President said earlier this week ahead of Boris’ European mini-tour: “He’s going to do a fantastic job.

“We have a great relationship.”

And he put pressure on the EU to act too, saying they’d been playing a tough negotiation with Boris.

The PM will face his first international test on the world stage when he meets President Trump along with other leaders.

France’s President Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau and Japanese PM Shinzo Abe are set to attend.

Boris will have to take care to appease both the EU and America on his first trip.

Last year’s G7 was dominated by President Trump, who famously pulled out of signing a joint statement.

Macron wants to focus on environmental issues ahead of the crunch gathering of the world’s most powerful nations – as parts of the Amazon in Brazil suffer from huge fires.

And President Trump is set to try and lobby other countries to support his foreign policy on Iran and Huawei, but also will look to Boris as a key ally.

Boris ‘deeply concerned’ by raging fires in Amazon

BORIS Johnson has said he’s “deeply concerned” about fires raging in the Amazon rainforest, and called for international action to protect the planet.

French President Emmanuel Macron called on world leaders to discuss the horrific fires as a matter of emergency at tomorrow’s G7 summit.

A spokesperson for the PM said today: “The prime minister is deeply concerned by the increase in fires in the Amazon rainforest and the impact of the tragic loss of these precious habitats.

“The effect of these fires will be felt around the world which is why we need international action to protect the world’s rainforests. The UK will continue to support projects in Brazil to do this, and the prime minister will use the G7 to call for a renewed focus on protecting nature and tackling climate change.”

It comes after Jeremy Corbyn urged him to take action against Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro last night.

After Boris’ successful trip to Europe this week where Mrs Merkel offered him 30 days to come up with a solution to the backstop, relations are set to be cordial.

The PM is due to meet European Council President Donald Tusk on Sunday to discuss Brexit, before leaders give their news conferences.
