Champion married his first wife, Jo Beswick, in 1981 and they were together for three years until 1984.
They had a son together, called Michael, and he was Christened at the Broad Hinton Church in Wiltshire.
Jo had been an amateur jockey when she met her future husband, and at their wedding they were surprised by the presenter Eamonn Andrews as part of a This Is Your Life show.
Champion then went on to marry property heiress, Dee, in 1987, and they tied the knot at Bury St Edmunds register office in Suffolk.
They had a daughter together, called Henrietta, but their marriage ended after nine years.
