Black Mirror has been a cult hit among fans ever since it first aired back in 2011. The fifth series of the show created by Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones has just landed on Netflix today (Wednesday, June 5). But will there be a season six of Black Mirror?
Will there be another series of Black Mirror?
Black Mirror season five was released today, Wednesday, June 5, on Netflix after much anticipation.
The fifth series of the science fiction TV show was created by Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones.
As an anthology series, there is no cliffhanger teasing a sixth series of the show but fans are already keen to know whether there will be a season six.
Netflix hasn’t yet confirmed if Black Mirror will be coming back for season six.
Although, given the popularity of the show, it is likely that Netflix will want to renew Black Mirror.
The future of the show is certainly in the minds of both Brooker and Jones, who told the New Statesman that it would good to see it continue.
Jones told the magazine: “It would be nice to do more, as there are certainly more ideas.”
However, neither could confirm whether it would actually happen yet.
Brooker also recently spoke about the possibility of Black Mirror branching out into more spin-offs and films.
He told Digital Spy: “Black Mirror is a flavour, and a tone.
“We have some, fairly wobbly, internal rules about what it is and isn’t right for a Black Mirror episode that we never really articulate out loud, but it does feel pretty flexible.
“So I don’t think there’s anything to stop us, we could do one-offs, we could do an ongoing story, we could do spin-offs.”
Netflix recently announced one short spin-off of the show called Stories From Our Future, which will be released on Monday, June 10.
However, these were not created by Brooker but instead written and directed by Rudy Mancuso.
The small spin-off series is though to be mainly intended as a marketing tool to boost the shows awareness in Latin America.
The Black Mirror spin-off may not even be available in the UK with the mini-shows planned for release on the Netflix América Latina YouTube channel.
When will Black Mirror season six be released?
As the show hasn’t officially been announced from Netflix yet, we’re unsure of when we might hope to see it.
Charlie Brooker also hasn’t followed a pattern with the release of the previous series.
Season five, for example, was quite delayed as Brooker was working on the interactive Netflix film Black Mirror: Bandersnatch that was released back in December.

For now viewers will just have to make do with the all new series of Black Mirror featuring Miley Cyrus, Anthony Mackie and Andrew Scott dealing with the darkness of modern technology.
