Birds Eye and Aunt Bessie’s are teaming up to make frozen roast dinners

THERE’S no doubt that a roast dinner is one of our favourite meals – but now Birds Eye and Aunt Bessie’s have teamed up to create a FROZEN one.

The dishes, which cost £2.50, come in either chicken or beef and with classic trimmings.

The two household names have gone for roasties, carrots, peas and gravy.

Although, the beef dish has a Yorkshire pudding (as is traditional!), while the chicken includes sage and onion stuffing.

They’ll be available exclusively in Tesco stores nationwide as well as online from September 9.

If you’re keeping a close eye on your waistline, you’ll want to know that the chicken dish is slightly healthier by containing 381 calories compared to 419 calories in the beef version.

Obviously if you’re not fussed about the Birds Eye and Aunt Bessie’s brands, you can get away cheaper by picking up lesser known brands or the supermarkets’ own.

For example, Tesco is selling its 400g frozen own-brand roast beef and chicken dinners for £1.75 each.

These contain 327 and 402 calories, respectively.

Or you can buy Bistro-branded ready meals with the same weight at Asda and Morrisons for £2.25. They come with roughly 420 calories each.

It might be even cheaper if you’re cooking for the whole family to buy the ingredients fresh and make up the dinners yourself.

Make sure you do your research and check mysupermarket.co.uk.

In November, Aunt Bessie’s started doing Yorkshire pudding wraps so you can make your own at home.

Birds Eye has also launched both sweet potato and rainbow waffles.

And in March, it axed Finds crispy pancakes and replaced them with a new recipe and name.
