Bindi Irwin has melted everyone’s hearts by revealing that she wants her little brother Robert to walk her down the aisle at her wedding, reasoning that it’s ‘what dad would have wanted.’
So sweet!
The 21-year-old, who recently revealed she’s engaged to her long-term partner Chandler Powell, explained: ‘I think that for me, it’ll be really important that Robert walks me down the aisle. That’s something that I really want to do.
‘I’m always so grateful that Robert is there, and he has been such a big part of my life and he’s always stepped up and been the one to give me a hug when I need it and encourage me forward in life.’
Bindi added to Entertainment Tonight: ‘And I think that’s what dad would have wanted as well.’
The wildlife warrior and daughter of Steve Irwin, who tragically died back in 2006, took to social media to confirm the engagement.
Sharing some gorgeous snaps of herself and her wakeboarder beau, she wrote: ‘July 24th 2019. On my birthday I said “yes” and “forever” to the love of my life.’
One shot saw her hold her left hand up to her face so we could get a good look at the band, with Chandler smiling with his eyes closed.
The second photo sees the two embracing with massive smiles, Bindi lifting up a leg in that ‘Princess Diaries’ foot pop way.
Chandler, 22, also shared the happy news to his Instagram, sharing some more juicy deets about the proposal.
‘She said YES! Almost 6 years ago we met at Australia Zoo. I immediately fell head over heels for her kind and thoughtful heart that radiates so much light,’ he wrote alongside more sweet shots.
‘Proposing in her very favourite place in the zoo, surrounded by animals, seemed like the perfect way to embark on this incredible new chapter in our lives. Bee, I love you more than anything in this world and I always will. Happy Birthday.’
Bindi and Chandler met rom-com style in 2013 when his family was given a tour of Australia Zoo, where he now works alongside the Irwins.
