Beverley Callard in shock as beloved dog almost 'burnt the house down' in freak accident

Former Coronation Street star Beverley Callard shared that she had a narrow miss yesterday. The actress had left home for a short while but her beloved dog, Arthur, had almost burnt her house down.

Beverley, 64, was welcomed home to the sight of smoke pouring through her kitchen, as well as dog treats being scattered across the floor.

The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant took to her Instagram page to reveal to her followers that she was lucky to still have her dog as well as her home.

It appears that Arthur had become distressed while Beverley had been out and caused quite a scene in the process.

However, Beverley soon forgave her poodle as they later sat down to watch the England match together.

In view of her 160,000 Instagram followers, Beverley shared a video of her dog who had been put in the garden for safety.

The video slowly turned to show her smoke-filled kitchen that almost caught fire just moments before she returned.

During the video, Beverley offered a close up of her stove, which had two rings lit and saw several bones on top of a lit ring.

As the camera panned closer, smoke was seen rising from the pile of bones that continued to burn away.

Just hours later, Beverley took to her Instagram Stories sharing an adorable picture of Arthur as he sat in their living room relaxing.

Alongside her picture, she penned: “Now sitting here watching the football like nothing has happened!”

The actress who became a household name after starring as Liz McDonald on Coronation Street currently lives in Eccles, Salford, Greater Manchester, with her husband, Jon McEwan, who she married in 2010.

Last year, while Beverley was competing on I’m A Celebrity she left fans speechless as she referred to her fourth husband as a “megas**g”.

Beverley shocked Coronation Street viewers in November 2019 when it was announced she would be walking away from her role.

The actress who had starred on the soap for 30 years left her role due to requiring a hip replacement, meaning her character was written out.

As Beverley recovered from her surgery at home, Jon surprised his wife with the latest addition to their family.

At the time, Beverley tweeted: “Obviously, not one of @jonmmac best ideas, he got me a surprise, Arthur! Timing wasn’t great, he’s fab though and growing rapidly.”
