‘Wow, thank you so much for talking to us’: Ben Fordham is brutally pranked by his cheeky producer pretending to be Matthew McConaughey during awkward interview

Talkback radio host Ben Fordham has been brutally pranked by his cheeky producer, who performed a very convincing Matthew McConaughey impression live on air.

The 2GB host was left stunned on Thursday when he found out he had an interview with the Oscar winner, and the star was already on the line and ready to go.

Ben appeared to be baffled and somewhat sceptical, but as soon as heard his producer Jake Lyle’s impressive impersonation he was convinced.

‘Alright, alright, alright,’ the cheeky producer said and added ‘hello Ben, hello Australia’.

‘Wow, thank you so much for talking to us,’ Ben replied.

‘I must admit I hadn’t really prepared for this at all Mr McConaughey, usually I have a bit more warning to prepare for a Hollywood superstar.’

The convincing impersonator spoke about his sponsorship with Wild Turkey and promoting his new eco cabin named ‘The Reserve’.

Ben was so convinced it was The Dallas Buyers Club star, he even questioned him on his iconic line ‘Alright, alright, alright’.

‘That came from one time I was filming a movie and just before the the take I had to have this check list of the three things I needed before I started in the movie. I did one I went “alright,” I went “alright” I got that and “alright” I got that,’ Jake, as Matthew, explained.

But it seemed the cheeky producer pushed it a bit too far when he asked Ben to have a go at impersonating his iconic line.

‘Hang on, I don’t think this is the Matthew McConaughey,’ Ben said.

‘See I’m looking outside the studio right now and I can see my producer Jake Lyle is missing from his desk.’

By then, the veteran radio host was fully convinced he had been conned as the still in character Jake joked that he had heard of Ben’s ‘very good looking producer’.

‘Mate you’ve got me mate I’m sweating, I’m sweating because I thought all of a sudden I’m talking to Matthew McConaughey and I haven’t prepared for the interview,’ Ben said with a laugh.

'I don't think this is the Matthew McConaughey,' Ben eventually figured out it was his producer after being pushed to impersonate the iconic line 'alright, alright, alright'
