Barcelona have lowered their valuation of centre-back Samuel Umtiti from £45 million to just £27 million amid interest from Manchester United and Arsenal, according to reports.

The Spanish giants have taken a big financial hit due to the coronavirus crisis and are said to be planning a fire sale of their star players in the next transfer window.

Barca could use Umtiti as part of a swap deal for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, who is their top summer target.

But according to Sport, the 26-year-old would prefer a move to the Premier League over the Serie A if he is to leave Camp Nou.

The French World Cup winner has been plagued by injuries in the last two seasons, making just 11 appearances in La Liga this term.

Both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Mikel Arteta are reportedly targeting a top centre-back to improve their defences.

Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly is also a long-term target for the Red Devils and Rio Ferdinand named the Senegal international as one of three signings United should be looking to make in the next transfer window.

‘I would probably go for [Jadon] Sancho, Koulibaly and Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid,’ Ferdinand said in an interview with the BBC this week.

‘I think Harry Kane’s been linked but if I’m pushing for an attacking player I’d still go for Sancho, he gives you that little bit of imagination and I think he gives you that little bit of spice that they haven’t got at the moment.

‘Sancho would add in that extra little bit of someone who can draw. I think having someone who can draw two or three players to them out of position, giving other players space, is what Man United have missed for a while.’
