Babycinos and hot chocolate are choking hazard for kids – and should be avoided

Young kids love to copy their mums and dads and be seen to do whatever it is they’re doing.

And because kids grow up so quickly and then want to do things differently, it’s a cute phase many parents love to make the most of.

For example, if you go out for a coffee , your little one may very well want something that looks like your drink – and this is partly why babycinos have become so popular.

But the Tiny Hearts Education have shared a warning about the (sometimes) hidden dangers of hot drinks like babycinos or hot chocolate.

“A safer option is to cut them into small pieces, use mini sized marshmallows, or better yet – eat the marshmallow yourself.

“Know what to do if the unthinkable happened and empower yourself with the knowledge and skill of baby and child first aid.”

Children are more likely to die as a result of choking because not only have their windpipes not developed properly yet, but they’re also still refining their swallowing and chewing techniques.

According to data analysed by first aid specialists CE Safety , in the past four years, of the 1571 deaths caused by choking, 14 happened to children under five-years-old.
