Arsenal's stance on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Barcelona lurk for potential transfer

Arsenal’s hopes of keeping hold of Aubameyang might be extinguished later this year, however, if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker has not played in Europe’s elite club competition for Arsenal and, at this stage, it looks unlikely he’ll get the opportunity to next season.

Arteta’s side are currently 12th in the Premier League, having won just six top-flight games all season, and are 11 points adrift of fourth-place Chelsea.

A dramatic surge up the table will be required to secure Champions League qualification and, potentially with it, Aubameyang’s signature on a new contract.

Barcelona, who remain in contention for the La Liga title, are almost certain to be playing in the competition next season, which might spell bad news for Arsenal.
