Raul Sanllehi insists Dani Ceballos is fully committed to Arsenal, despite the club’s new signing claiming he had no idea what Arsenal’s objectives were ahead of the new season.

The Spain Under-21 international’s arrival on loan from Real Madrid was confirmed on Thursday as Arsenal belatedly stepped up their summer transfer activity with William Saliba’s transfer from Saint-Etienne also finalised.

‘Well, I’ve not spoken to my team-mates yet so we’re not sure of what the objective is, but obviously I’m coming here to give everything I have,’ he said in his first official interview after signing.

Sanllehi, however, claims Ceballos had been studying Arsenal’s squad for a fortnight prior to his signing and hinted he would fill the attacking midfield role vacated by Aaron Ramsey, highlighting his versatility and dribbling ability.

‘We’re very pleased and proud to get Ceballos done, many top clubs in Europe wanted this player,’ said Arsenal’s head of football.

‘We like the player because of the position he plays and the way he comes out with the ball. Cabellos is one of the top young players in Europe.

‘He is a Real Madrid player and I say that with pain, because when I was at Barca I tried to sign him.

‘He wasn’t getting enough game time with Zidane, but we have a good relationship with the club and I knew the player, so we saw this as a win-win for us and Real Madrid.

‘He is fanatical about football. I can tell you that for the last two weeks he has been studying Arsenal and every player and this was part of why we brought him in. He is a loan player but he has a big commitment.’
