Arsenal sent warning over completing Willian transfer from Chelsea

Arsenal have been warned about hampering the progress of their young stars by signing Willian from Chelsea this summer.

The Brazilian winger could be on the move with his contract close to ending, although discussions with the Blues continue over a possible extension.

Willian has been linked with both north London sides and would be an ideal signing for Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta may have a lack of funds if the Emirates hierarchy don’t back him financially and Willian would cost nothing.

But the Spaniard has watched several of his young prospects stake their case to be regulars for the Gunners.

Willian could be on the move this summer

The likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli has been hugely impressive with the former earning himself a new deal recently.

And Darren Bent has urged caution on the red half of north London as they consider their summer business.

He said: “I think Spurs would be in for him with the whole [Jose] Mourinho factor, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Arsenal were interested – they want all of Chelsea’s leftovers… this is one I’d actually take, though!

Bukayo Saka has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign

“But, you look at Arsenal’s front line and they’ve got Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pepe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah, Bukayo Saka… there are quite a few there so he might not suit Arsenal.

“He might not get as much game time and signing him could also stunt the growth of a player like Martinelli.”

Saka started over 30 games for the north Londoners, scoring on four occasions.

Martinelli was also a big success having made the switch from Brazil in the summer and scored 10 times in all competitions.
