Didn’t deserve more than a point: Arteta on Brighton game

Arsenal are reportedly readying a January move for Club Brugge rising star Noa Lang.

Mikel Arteta spent almost £150million in the summer transfer window as he started Arsenal’s rebuild following their eighth-place finish last season where they finished outside the European spots for the first time in 25 years.

£50m signing Ben White has shown promise in recent weeks as the Gunners kept three clean sheets in their last four Premier League games, while Martin Odegaard, Takeiro Tomiyasu and Martin Odegaard have hit the ground running in an Arsenal shirt.

But the north London club are not resting on their laurels as they are already preparing for the upcoming window.

January is a notoriously hard window to do business in but Arsenal feel they have identified a quality player in Lang who is starring in Belgium as they prepare a £25m bid, according to Voetbal24, via the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old only arrived in Brugge on a permanent basis in the summer, after impressing during a loan stint from Ajax last season, but he could be on the move once again as a number of clubs circle the forward.

Lang scored 16 goals in 29 league appearances last term and was named as Belgian Pro League’s young player of the season.

Lang has carried that form into the current campaign and impressed on the biggest stage earning a man of the match award for his performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League as Brugge held the French giants on Lionel Messi’s debut.

His form led to him receiving his first international cap for the Netherlands during their 1-0 victory over Latvia this month.

AC Milan and Leeds are claimed to be rivaling Arsenal for his signature, but they hope they can get the jump on them with their opening offer.

Brugge are holding out for £33m after Brugge took up a £5m option to make his loan move from Ajax permanent in the summer.

Lang has also drawn comparisons with Neymar following his star display against PSG, according to the player’s agent Bart Baving.

He told Calciomercato, via HITC: “Noa is Noa, he has always had this type of playing style.

“He always works hard and has excellent technique, dribbling and vision. He is also an excellent decision-maker and a neat finisher. He is also a generous player, anything but selfish.

“I’ve heard a lot of people say he looks like Neymar, especially after the PSG match.”
