The streaming platform incorporates original Apple shows and other broadcasters including HBO
Apple has announced its new streaming platform, Apple TV+, will land this autumn – and with it comes a host of original content.
The streaming service builds off from Apple’s existing Apple TV application with programmes available on demand (both online and offline), based on an ad-free subscription model. Apple announced the platform at an event held at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California earlier today (March 25).
Some of the Apple TV+ original shows feature works by Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon, Ophra Winfrey, and JJ Abrams [via Consequence of Sound].
Spielberg is rebooting his horror, fantasy, and science fiction anthology show Amazing Stories, while Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Steve Carell star in an episodic series called The Morning Show.
Elsewhere, The Big Sick’s Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon will launch a series called Little America. JJ Abrams has worked on a 30-minute dramedy called Little Voice and has joined forces with Alias’ Jennifer Garner again for an adaptation of the 2017 memoir My Glory Was I Had Such Friends.

Oprah Winfrey will present two original Apple TV documentaries (one on sexual harassment and assault in the workplace, the other on mental health) and will present her book club in a new episodic conversation series. Other original Apple TV+ content comes from M. Night Shyamalan, Sofia Coppola, Ron Howard, and many others.
Subscribers will be able to access the rebooted Apple TV app, which will enable them to directly access third party apps including HBO, Showtime, Starz, and CBS All.
The Apple TV app will be available on Mac, smart TVs, Roku, and Amazon Fire for the first time ever.
