Apex Legends: New Legends update from Respawn and Battle Pass character skin news

It won’t be long before Apex Legends is updated with its first Season of content and Battle Pass for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Nothing official has been shared so far on what will be included in the bundle, only that it should land in March 2019.

Data miners believe they have found new items that will be part of Season One and the Battle Pass, including unlockable Legends skins. But the way this will be done has yet to be revealed.

There are even rumours that the Battle Pass will launch later this week, an event that would no doubt drive interest and grow the already impressive concurrent player numbers.

However, Respawn’s latest post on Apex Legends was more focused on fixing current issues and taking action against cheaters.

The development team has confirmed that over 355K players have already been banned on PC through Easy-Anti-Cheat.

Respawn has promised more fixes are coming, although it’s unclear if a new Apex Legends update is being primed for later this week.

“We are working on improvements to combat cheaters, and we’re going to have to be pretty secretive about our plans,” a message from Respawn explains.

“Cheaters are crafty, and we don’t want them to see us coming.”

Respawn say they are focused on removing cheaters and are also working on a new system to stop the practice of players spamming during character select and the drop and then disconnecting shortly after.

Slow server performance at the start of matches is also a priority bug being handled by Respawn, who told fans this weekend: “We’ve seen these reports and are narrowing down causes and making improvements.

“If this could be fixed by spending money on faster/more servers, we would do it, but unfortunately there is no silver bullet on this one.

“We’re just rolling up our sleeves and digging in. We’ll keep you updated on any progress we make.”

Fans are also curious to find out what will be included in the game’s first Battle Pass when it arrives later this month.

Respawn remains coy on the details, but data miners believe they have found some interesting new information.

Some of the more obvious stuff is the release of New Legends character skins, among other cosmetic items.

A ‘battle pass bonus’ has also been found in the data files for Apex Legends but does not include any information on what it will do for gamers.

There’s also evidence to suggest that Apex Legends will support both a paid and free version of the Battle Pass, at least during Season One.

A new character is also expected to arrive during Season One but this new inclusion will not be directly connected to the Battle Pass past cosmetic items.

“The Battle Pass is a seasonal system that rewards players with exclusive cosmetic items. These rewards are a mix of exclusive seasonal cosmetics and Apex Packs,” a statement on the official Apex Legends site confirms.

“Every player can unlock some of these items each season through normal play; those who choose to purchase the Battle Pass can earn everything available that season, around 100 different rewards.

“Legends will not be included in the Battle Pass. The Battle Pass gives players exclusive cosmetic items and Apex Packs.”
