Antonio Conte’s wife issued warning to Tottenham manager ‘These players are not listening'

New Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, 52, may be getting some words of wisdom from his wife of eight years, Elisabetta Muscarello, ahead of his debut match with the team in the European Conference League this evening. It comes after the Italian football manager previously received a stark warning from his other half at the start of the season while at the helm of his former club, Chelsea.

In a recently unearthed interview from 2017, Conte admitted Elisabetta didn’t shy away from telling him what she really thought of his chemistry with the team.

When quizzed on what his wife’s reaction was while he was “running around on the touchline” during Chelsea games, Conte divulged: “My wife knows me very well.

“I didn’t go out with her till after I stopped playing so she only knows me really as a coach.

“At the start of the season at Chelsea, my wife watched the early games and at the end she said, ‘Look, Antonio, I saw the previous games with the previous team. They listened to you. These players are not listening to you.’”

“She is beginning to understand that her dad gets nervous when he does not win”.

Conte signed an 18-month deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this week, marking his new role in the Premier League after leaving his role at Inter Milan.

The head coach is replacing former Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

He is set to make his debut on the pitch with Tottenham tonight in their Europa League Conference home game against Vitesse Arnhem.

After being appointed, Conte told Spurs TV: “My coaching philosophy is very simple – to play good and attractive football for our fans. To have a stable team, not up and down.

“I think the fans deserve to have a competitive team with a will to fight. I will do everything to deserve their support.

“This type of situation pushes you and increases the desire to work and to do something important for the fans of this club.

“This is a great opportunity, an honour to become the manager.”
