Anton du Beke reads to his twins in sweet snap to celebrate World Book Day

Anton du Beke has shared a rare snap of his toddler twins to celebrate World Book Day.

The proud dad gushed about his love of The Famous Five series when he was a child as he posted a picture of him reading to George and Henrietta, who will turn two on March 30.

The twins looked enraptured by the Strictly professional, who was holding a kids book about trees, as they perched in their miniature chairs to listen in.

Anton, 52, wrote: “Happy #WorldBookDay As a child I adored The Famous Five books – I’ll admit, I still do! Julian, Dick, Anne, George & Timmy taught me all about friendship, their escapades kindling a desire for the joy of exploring the countryside & for new adventures. Lovely!”

The Strictly dancer, who has been a member of the series since 2004, became a new dad at the age of 51.

He revealed the reason he waited so long to have a child to the Mirror last year : “I wanted to be 100 per cent sure that my children’s mother would be the woman I would spend the rest of my life with.

“As soon as I knew I would be with Hannah forever, I wanted to have children with her.”

He married wife Hannah Summers, who he met six years ago, and they live together in rural Buckinghamshire.

Anton became a dad at 51

He said of having the twins: “Life has changed completely since the babies arrived, but in the most wonderful way.

“It’s the best change ever. Absolutely super. I love being with them and Hannah. Love every second of it. Doing all the family stuff, like going swimming and having splash time, well, it’s my very favourite thing.

“The twins are doing everything at the same time at the moment, although they have quite different personalities. George is quite immediate, while Henrietta considers things more.

The Strictly professional is the only dancer to have appeared on every single series since it began

“Having said this, as soon as she sees a mobile phone she wants it – more than any of her toys. I dance with the pair of them already. They love being twirled around the room.”

It’s just been announced that Anton will be returning to the BBC dancing competition for the 2019 intake of celebs.

He is the only remaining dancer to have competed in every single series since the show began.
