Ant-Man 3 could drop as soon as 2022, it has been revealed.
The comic book movie will also see Paul Rudd return as the titular character and Peyton Reed return as director, according to reports.
Peyton directed the last two films, 2015’s Ant-Man and 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp.
The character of Ant-Man also featured in this year’s Avengers: Endgame.
According to sources who spoke to the Hollywood Reporter, the shoot for the latest outing for the character will take place at the end of 2020 or the beginning of 2021.
Paul’s previous film credits include I Love You Man and Clueless. He also of course played Phoebe’s love interest Mike in Friends.
Meanwhile, Payton Reed’s previous directorial efforts include Bring It On and Yes Man.
Paul clearly has an emotional connection to his comic book character.
He recently hit back at iconic director Martin Scorsese’s comments that Marvel films are ‘theme park movies’.
After the subject was raised by Metro.co.uk, he replied: ‘At the end of the day, I think any actor just wants to work on something that they like, and the material is good, and the writing is good, and the character is interesting.’
He furthermore added: ‘People watch movies on phones now. So this idea that we can tell a four-and-a-half hour movie, if you want to think about it in those terms is fine.’
