Angelina Jolie may be a superstar but she became just a regular mum while dropping her eldest son, Maddox, off to school in South Korea this week.

The Maleficent actress escorted Maddox, 18, to Yonsei University in Seoul on Wednesday where he’ll be studying biochemistry and she, understandably, became overwhelmed with emotion.

While walking around the Yonsei International Campus Songdo with Maddox at her side, Angelina bumped into a horde of star-struck students with whom she happily engaged in conversation.

In footage shot by one student, Angelina fights back the tears and says: ‘I leave today, today’s the day I drop him off.’

She added emotionally: ‘I’m trying not to cry.’

When asked if she and Maddox have been able to see much of the local area, the 44-year-old actress replied: ‘A little bit, we’ve been in Seoul.

‘We’ve been here a while ago when we first went to Yonsei and then we came back again.’

Reassuring her son, Ange added: ‘It seems like a great school.’

Despite a tight schedule with her travel plans back to the US, Angelina graciously took time to pose for photos with the excited fans.

It comes after a source previously told People that Maddox had chosen to study biochemistry at the university, explaining: ‘He got accepted to other universities but choose Yonsei.

‘He has been studying Korean language. He has lessons multiple times a week to prepare.’

The insider added that Maddox’s five siblings – Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, ‘hope to visit’ him in South Korea, so no doubt he won’t have to be without his besties for too long.

Angelina previously said she was ‘nothing but proud’ of Maddox’s decision to study abroad, adding: ‘I look forward to all he will do.’

The Tourist actress shares Maddox and the rest of her five children – both adopted and biological – with ex-husband Brad Pitt, whom she split from in 2016.
