Angela Merkel health fears as she staggers into Polish minister at Auschwitz

The German Chancellor lost her balance while on a trip to the Nazi death camp, and Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki quickly stepped in to help steady her as she reached her hand out in a bid to steady herself. She has been caught on camera violently shaking during three separate public engagements recently. On social media many appeared concerned for her health in the face of evidence but Mrs Merkel has continued to brush off any worries, insisting she is in good health. She put one incident down to dehydration.

During Friday’s visit to Auschwitz Ms Merkel laid a wreath at at former execution wall in the Nazi compound.

While turning away, she can be seen wobbling backwards and reaching forwards while Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki quickly reaches out to help her.

The moment was caught on camera during Ms Merkel’s first trip to the site since she became chancellor 14 years ago.

Despite the display of imbalance, Ms Merkel carried on with the scheduled visit.

In mid-June Ms Merkel shook uncontrollably as she stood beside Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky at a military parade.

The pair had been standing for national anthems during an event in Berlin.

And eight days later there was a repeat of the episode when the 65-year-old was captured shaking as she stood on a stage during a ceremony.

Afterwards, she continued her pattern of brushing off health concerns.

She told reporters: “I am good.

“I have recently said i am in a phase of coming to terms with what happened at the recent military honours ceremony with President Zelensky of Ukraine.

“That phase is not completely over, but there’s progress.

“I’m very well and it’s nothing to worry about.”

Ms Merkel is thought to have consulted doctors and undergone tests during the summer.
