Amazing Stories reboot trailer arrives

Amazing Stories, a classic anthology television series that carried the unmistakable aura of optimistic wonder of Steven Spielberg’s 1985-1987 NBC television series, is making a comeback over thirty years in the making, evidenced more vividly than ever before with the arrival of the first trailer for the Apple TV+ reboot series.

The Amazing Stories trailer is a manic montage of marvel, showcasing an initial set of anthological episodes that will manifest with five unique stories. – Oh, and fans of the original series will be very satisfied to know that the iconic orchestral theme song from the original series is not only represented here, but remains intact in its original form.

While there still isn’t all that much out there in terms of officially-confirmed details of said stories, the trailer for Amazing Stories does effectively reveal the kind of tales that are intrinsically evocative of the classic series – concepts such as a child’s supernatural discovery, an apparent world-affecting event and a coma patient awoken by a mysterious force.

Most heartwarmingly, we are also shown footage from Episode 3, “Dynoman and the Volt,” which centres on the late, great Robert Forster – in his final role – as a grandfather who gains superhuman abilities, with which he uses to bond with his grandson. Interestingly enough, Forster will also be seen posthumously in the upcoming fifth season of AMC’s Better Call Saul, reprising his Breaking Bad role as “the Disapearer,” which he also reprised in the latter’s recent epilogue TV movie, El Camino.

Episode 1, titled “The Rift,” will feature cast members Edward Burns and Kerry Lynn Bishe, Episode 2, “Boogey Night,” features Eden Riegel and Vivian Bang, Episode 4, “The Cellar,” will star Sasha Alexander, Dylan O’Brien and Victoria Pedretti, and Episode 5, “Signs of Life,” will star Josh Holloway and Linda Park.

The lineup of directors for this first frame include Mark Mylod, Michael Dinner (for “Signs of Life”), Susanna Fogel (for “Dynoman and the Volt”), Todd Holland (for “Boogey Night”) and Chris Long (for “The Cellar”). Spielberg, who developed all the story concepts on the original series, returns for the Amazing Stories Apple TV+ reboot as an executive producer, but the primary showrunner duo here are executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who replaced the departed Bryan Fuller, who exited the project back in February 2018. They are joined by executive producers in Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Don Kurt, Chris Long and David H. Goodman.

Apple TV+’s Amazing Stories will premiere “The Rift” on the streaming platform on Friday, March 6, after which new episodes will arrive weekly.
