Amanda Holden believes the return of Britain’s Got Talent is just what the UK needs as the globe battles coronavirus.
The talent show judge, 49, who sits on the panel with Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams, shared that as the pandemic continues to take hold that the country needs to “connect” and that the ITV series will be able to bring people together.
The TV personality told that people close to her are suffering as they have lost their jobs but added that it is important that people who can carry on do during the uncertain time.
Speaking about the deadly bug, Amanda told Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine : “Obviously it’s all so worrying, terrifying really. My friends in the business are being laid off, theatres are closing.
“People’s whole worlds are just collapsing, but those of us who can have to carry on doing what we do. What’s the alternative?”

She then added: “Hopefully BGT will be a bit of medicine for the whole country. I mean that. We need to just connect, to hear other people’s stories, laugh, cry, all those human things that BGT has always been about.”
It comes after the bombshell was slammed for sharing a petition to stop the introduction of 5G in the UK.
Her name trended on Twitter on Friday evening as people accused her of ‘scaremongering’ and being ‘disrespectful’.
Some conspiracy theorists believe that mobile broadband 5G is dangerous and can actually cause coronavirus, though there is absolutely no evidence to suggest this.
Amanda tweeted and then swiftly deleted a link to a Change.Org petition calling for it to stay out of the UK.

The petition claimed that 5G will take all the oxygen out of the air and alters DNA, as well as causing Covid-19.
And her tweet sparked hundreds of responses criticising her for believing the conspiracy theory.
One person tweeted: ” Amanda Holden is using her platform and her status to perpetuate myths and conspiracies that are not only untrue and fearmongering, but are disrespectful to all of our dead. For shame!”
“Amanda Holden is a 5G conspiracist help meee,” another posted.
A third said: “Amanda Holden scaremongering about toxic 5G affecting her health as if she hasn’t been injecting toxic chemicals into her face for 15 years. Make it make sense.”
A fourth wrote: “So sorry to hear about Amanda Holden, my thoughts are with her brain.”
“Ban Amanda Holden. 5G is safe,” a fifth said.
