Alex Jones: The One Show presenter apologies after embarrassing Namibia gaffe live – VIDEO

Alex Jones said sorry for a pronunciation gaffe on The One Show recently, while hosting alongside Strictly Come Dancing winner Ore Oduba. The presenter, who has fronted the BBC hit since 2010, was left red faced in a segment on fans’ holiday snaps. The pregnant 42-year-old read out one offering, taken in Namibia, with a glaring error, but thankfully she soon corrected herself. Her companion, 33, made light of the situation, joking that she had been distracted by the viewer’s beau’s name.

Ore had started: “This one from Jill and John in Bolivia,” lifting up an impressive picture.

He commented: “The trip included 4,000 square miles of salt flats, where you can take these weird perspective images.”

“That is good,” Alex continued. “This one from Jen in Liverpool. This is her boyfriend Stefan – I think I’m saying it right, it’s French – at the abandoned mining town of Kolmanskop in Nam-bia back in January this year.”

Realising her mistake, the mother-of-one exclaimed: “Oh Namibia! Sorry! I hadn’t read it…”

Ore then quipped: “You got it, you got it. You were so obsessed with Stefan that you forgot about Namibia.”

Alex had sported a chic grey knit for the instalment, while a white frilly shirt could be seen around her neck.

Ore later shared a snap of the duo with Brian May and comedian Joe Lycett following the show on Instagram.

The brunette beauty was seen with a cheeky smile on her face while pointing at the Queen hitmaker’s new book.

He captioned it: “Actual Brian May on The One Show sofa. Went through quite an obsessional Queen phase about 15 years ago (might’ve watched their Live Aid performance a thousand times).

“Was such an honour to meet this man, such a fine gent too!

“And @joelycett we obvs love you as well, but you knew that @brianmayforreal #Queen #BohemianRhapsody *hope you don’t mind me nicking your pic Bri ;).”(sic)

Meanwhile, it comes just days after Alex Jones revealed how she had been on The One Show an hour after suffering a miscarriage.

Back in 2017, she and her husband Charlie Thomson “learnt [their] baby didn’t have a heartbeat”.

She told Stella Magazine: “I was around 14 weeks, which is a decent amount of time.

“The baby had stopped developing at about nine weeks. That was really hard. It hit us like a tonne of bricks.”

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
