Piers Morgan attended the BAFTAs last night in hope of bagging the News Coverage award for his Thomas Markle interview for Good Morning Britain.
However, the outspoken host left empty handed, and Alan Sugar couldn’t help but take a swipe at his nemesis on Twitter.
Losing to Channel 4’s programme Cambridge Analytica Uncovered, the 54-year-old took to Twitter to vent his frustration.
He wrote: “We lost. In fact, we lost twice in the same category. But I’m taking it really well.”
Never one to shy away from Piers Morgan controversy, The Apprentice star wrote a number of tweets mocking the TV presenter for failing to walk away with a win.
The tweet read: “Piersy, did you win a BAFTA? I watched on BBC but didn’t see you winning anything.”
Alan later tweeted a selfie holding his own BAFTA with the caption: “Hi Piersy. Shame Good Morning Britain didn’t get a BAFTA.
“I think the team deserved one but it was the thought of you by the committee that let them down. By the way I have two.”
Not one to wallow, but certainly venting his feelings online, an annoyed Piers tweeted that the BBC “airbrushed out Good Morning Britain”.
He said: The BBC didn’t even mention on last night’s BAFTA TV awards that Good Morning Britain received two nominations for Best News Coverage.
“They literally airbrushed us out of the televised show to protect their own BBC Breakfast, which didn’t get nominated. How pathetic is that?”
While Piers failed to add any awards to his mantelpiece, it was a winning night for drama series Killing Eve.
Liverpool actress Jodie Comer won the award for Best Actress, while Fiona Shaw bagged Best Supporting Actress.
The programme also walked away with Best Drama Series.
