AJ Pritchard: Strictly pro's brother 'not surprised' by Saffron Barker romance rumours


AJ Pritchard, 24, and Saffron Barker, 19, have been causing a stir with their chemistry while performing on Strictly Come Dancing 2019. The pair recently wowed the judges with their Couples’ Choice (Contemporary) routine, which the YouTuber dedicating it to her nan, Ivy. Their connection on the dance floor has prompted some viewers to speculate over whether there is a romantic connection between them, despite the professional dancer dating Abbie Quinnen. AJ’s younger sibling Curtis Pritchard, 23, has even admitted he is “not surprised” by the rumours in a recent interview with OK! Magazine.

“She’s a bubbly young lady and she has a smile on her face all the time. She gives it a go and she just enjoys things.”

The TV personality went on to critique his brother and Saffron’s week one Strictly performance.

He added: “I think the Tango they did was an incredible dance. 

“She picked it up, she did it technically so well, her right shoulder was a little raised up.

“She needed to pull it down and drop it for a cleaner line for the Tango but I was very impressed with the first dance.”

He predicted: “I think they could be a couple to look out for.” 

Elsewhere, Saffron made a surprising revelation about AJ “dropping” her while they practice complex lifts during rehearsals.

The duo addressed the issue in a question and answer session with viewers, as one fan quizzed the pair: “Have you ever dropped each other when doing a lift in training?”

AJ was quick to deny any mishaps, replying: “I have never ever ever dropped Saffron in training because I’m a gentleman and I wouldn’t allow it to happen.”

However, the professional dancer looked a little sheepish when Saffron hit back: ”No you have, you have!”

AJ then admitted: “I’ve lowered you to floor once or twice…”
