Inter Milan lead against rivals AC Milan at the San Siro.
Inter stunned their foes just after five minutes when Romelu Lukaku’s incredible cross from the right flank found Lautaro Martinez completely unmarked and his header went to the back of the net.
The Nerazzurri came close to a second soon after when Ivan Perisic delivered a crisp low cross from the left but Lukaku failed to get a touch of the ball in front of Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Donnarumma denied Perisic soon after and the ball went to Lautaro but the Argentina international failed to complete a brace.
Milan almost scored an equaliser with Theo Hernandez, whose shot barely missed Samir Handanovic’s right post.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic got a left-footed volley at the edge of the box soon after but the ball went straight onto Handanovic
