A Place In The Sun's Scarlette slams 'obnoxious' and rude' buyers who wanted free holiday

A Place In The Sun presenter Scarlette Douglas, 32, who joined the property show in 2015, said the couple in question made up excuses about why they didn’t want to buy any of the properties presented to them in Antigua. She described the pair as “obnoxious” and “rude”.

On who her trickiest customers had been, she told Daily Express: “A couple in Antigua – they were never going to buy and just wanted a free holiday.

“They were rude, obnoxious and no matter what we showed them, there was an excuse as to why they didn’t like it.”

The property expert’s co-star Jonnie Irwin also shared a time he encountered an awkward moment with a house hunter.

The presenter said he had to use all of his patience as the customer couldn’t make a decision without consulting her crystal first.

The A Place In The Sun cast returned to filming in July after lockdown measures eased.

In a recent episode, Scarlette told viewers she hadn’t got off to the best start with a pair of house hunters.

Married couple Tony and Carol wanted to swap the West Midlands for a home in the Spanish sun.

After showing them the first option, a ground floor apartment, the pair revealed why they wasn’t keen on buying it.

The house hunters were looking for a traditional, detached property with access to a pool on a budget of £75,000.

“We started off well but the more we came in the less they liked it,” Scarlette explained.

Despite liking the property, the couple revealed they didn’t like the idea of somebody else living above them.

“It’s liveable,” Carol said, prompting the host to reply: “Liveable is not a word I like to hear.
