Some of the tips will work in lots of supermarkets so its worth checking wherever you shop.

Get delivery cheaper

Buying a delivery pass can slash the cost of shopping online if you’re a Morrisons regular.

There’s two different options available, either an anytime pass or a weekday pass.

You can buy either option monthly, six monthly or yearly.

Obviously, a yearly pass works out as the most cost-effective.

It’s £65 for an annual anytime pass (£5.41 a month) or £35 for a weekday one (£2.92 a month).

Paying for a delivery costs you around £3 without a pass, so you’ll need to do two shops a month to save with the anytime pass and one shop a month for the weekday option.

If you get one delivery a week normally, an annual pass could save you as much as £121 a year.

On its website Morrisons says you only get unlimited deliveries on orders over £40 so you may want to avoid smaller shops.

You also get priorities for Christmas delivery slots.

Consider wonky veg

In a bid to cut down on waste, Morrisons sells wonky veg at a discount rate.

The produce is just as tasty as ordinary fruit and vegetables, but the carrots might be bendy or the limes may not be perfect ovals.

Given most of us chop up our fruit and veg before cooking and serving, it hardly matters what shape they are and the savings can be big.

In 2017, Morrisons launched a wonky veg box for £3.50 that it said could feed a family for a week, but you can also buy individual packs of wonky veg too.

Keep an eye out for berries, aspargus, carrots, onions, peppers, avocados and rhubarb to name a few and see where you can save!

Shop in the right aisle

A Money Saving Expert investigation found that you can save a packet by changing the aisle you shop at in a supermarket.

In particular, it found that you can save as much as 40 per cent buy getting identical or nearly identical items at the fresh counter rather than the chiller aisle.

For instance, the money saving gurus found that roast topside beef was 40 per cent cheaper at the Morrisons counter than in the aisle.

They also found that 260g of salmon fillet was £3.90 at the fish counter but £4.97 in an aisle.

When you’re on your shop, make a note of the cost per 100g in the aisles and then head to the counters to see if you can pick up a bargain.
