Science fiction and horror are two of the most popular genres in gaming.
Games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect series have perfected sci-fi gaming, whilst titles such Resident Evil 7 and Eternal Darkness are the absolute peak of horror titles.
Very few games, however, manage to successfully bridge the gap between the two genres, resulting in a select, elite core of sci-fi games which are horrifying and disturbing in the extreme.
The original Resident Evil and countless other titles have given us plenty of jump-scares over the years, and games like Manhunt 2 and Mortal Kombat X have certainly taken care of the gore factor.
