PATRICE EVRA is being sued by Jerome Rothen after the former Manchester United defender threatened him on social media.

Winger Rothen and defender Evra played together for France, but they fell out after Evra celebrated United’s Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain last month.

Rothen joined Rangers on loan from PSG in 2009, but made just eight appearances before being shipped back to the Parc des Princes.

He criticised Evra for his taunts, but the 37-year-old responded on social media by threatening to hit him.

He also called him a “salty p****.”

Rothen, 41, has now taken legal action against the former left-back – who also made anti-gay jibes about PSG.

Evra later published a grovelling apology, where he said he “loved everyone”. and it is because of threats and insults.

Rothen said: “I decided together with my lawyer to make a complaint.  It has begun, and it is because of threats and insults.

“What Evra did is unacceptable.  We will see what happens, and justice will decide.

“He insulted and threatened me in a video published on Instagram on March 8.

“He repeated those threats in a Snapchat video on March 18, which also contains homophobic insults towards PSG’s players.

“I immediately instructed my lawyer, Sorin Margulis, to begin proceedings against Evra.

“I see that the Paris prosecutor has opened an enquiry into him about homophobic abuse.”
