Zoe Ball: Radio 2 DJ shuns isolation to give blood amid the coronavirus pandemic

Zoe Ball, 49, took to social media today to urge people to continue donating blood amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The NHS will be tested to the limit over the coming weeks and months as the pandemic escalates and desperately needs more blood to help save lives.

Earlier today, the Radio 2 Breakfast show presenter headed to the West End Donor Centre to do her bit.

Zoe could be seen giving blood at the medical centre in a picture posted online.

In the image, which she shared with her 455,000 followers, the TV and radio star gave the thumbs up to the camera while hooked up to the equipment.

Wearing her short blonde tresses loose, the casually-dressed star put on an animated display as she posed for pictures with the NHS staff.

Zoe wore an animal print jumper, blue jeans and lace-up boots for the important outing.

Alongside the picture she wrote: “Just given blood – thank you to Kevin, Sandra & team at West End Donor Centre.”

The DJ continued: “Always thanks to all the incredible NHS workers.”

Urging her followers to follow suit, she added: “PLEASE #keepdonating if you are able. Blood is still desperately needed #nhs #giveblood.”

Zoe also included some information about giving blood in the current climate.

The mum-of-two added: “At the moment, these are the current NHS guidelines on blood donation (as of 19th March):⁣

“Please keep donating blood as normal (unless you are ill)⁣

“Travelling to donate blood is classed as essential for the NHS.⁣

“Extra safety measures are in place at blood donation sessions. ⁣

“Crucially: Blood donation saves lives. #keepdonating⁣.”

The Strictly It Takes Two presenter signed off: “You can sign up to give blood at blood.co.uk.”
