Real Madrid are set to announce Zinedine Zidane as their new manager in the coming hours, according to widespread reports in Spain.
Santiago Solari, who replaced Julen Lopetegui in the hot seat back in October, was informed that he had been sacked at a meeting on Monday after a disastrous run of results for the Spanish giants.
Madrid have lost four of their last six matches in all competitions are third in the La Liga table, 12 points adrift of league leaders and arch-rivals Barcelona.
Zidane stepped down as manager just days after leading Madrid to a third successive Champions League title last May and the club have attempted to cool rumours of the Frenchman’s return.
However, according to COPE Sports, Madrid’s players expect Zidane to take charge of training on Tuesday ahead of their clash with Celta Vigo.
