Zinedine Zidane is confident Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale could thrive in the same Real Madrid team next season.

Chelsea star Hazard appears almost certain to complete his dream move to the Spanish capital with reports earlier this week claiming official confirmation was a matter of days away.

Bale’s days at the Bernabeu, by contrast, appear to be numbered with Zidane recently failing to give the Wales international any guarantees over his future.

The 30-year-old has struggled with form and fitness this season, scoring just once in his last 10 appearances, while he has regularly been singled out for criticism by his own supporters.

Bale has been mentioned as a possible makeweight in a potential deal for Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, but regardless of his future Zidane believes the former Tottenham star could form a devastating partnership with Hazard.

Asked if Bale and Hazard can play together, he said: ‘All the good players can play together. People before said I could not play with Djorkaeff. Do you remember? What craziness.

‘The idea is to have more strength in attack next year. We will see what happens though.

‘Bale is happy, he has had minutes with me. In the end we will see what happens, but I am not to say what Gareth should do. He is a player in our squad, and will play between now and end of season.

‘I know clearly what I want to do. The players, the profiles, what I want to do for next year. We are working on it. But we still have four games left. Then we will see.’
