Zinedine Zidane aims a dig at Gareth Bale as his Real Madrid exit nears

Zinedine Zidane has publicly questioned Gareth Bale for the first time – further fueling speculation he will leave Real Madrid this summer.

Manchester United are said to be weighing up a move to bring the Welsh star back to the Premier League.

Both clubs are keen to keep each other sweet with Zidane desperate to bring United’s Paul Pogba to the Bernabéu .

Now the coach has given the biggest indication yet that 29-year-old Bale’s future lies away from Spain.

Following the club’s dismal 1-0 defeat at struggling Rayo Vallecano, he said he “did not know if he’s focused on Madrid”.

It’s all going wrong for Bale in Spain this season

The relationship between the pair was already frosty but insiders say the end of his time at Madrid is now drawing closer.

Chelsea have also been linked and like United, they have something Real really want.

Zidane has put Eden Hazard at the top of his shopping list and a £90million deal could be concluded in June.

The Frenchman was furious with his side after Sunday’s loss and he says the summer transfer window cannot come soon enough.

He’s won plenty but home is said to be calling

“We did nothing from the first minute to the last,” he said.

“Sometimes you can’t score, but you have chances. We didn’t play at all. We have to be very angry, I am.

“Because we left a bad image today and I am responsible, not just the players. We have to apologise for what we did today.

“It would be better for the season to end as soon as possible. We have three games left and we have to play them. We cannot finish like that, giving that image.

Manchester United and Juventus want to end his nightmare

“In the end nothing I had planned today came off, what I thought of the team or the strategy. We have to respect the game of football, respect this club and we have to finish these three games because we are going to have to play better than today.

“What we saw today is unacceptable.”

He added: “I will always defend my players. This happened today, but it is not just their fault.

“I am to blame, I put the team out and prepare for matches. And we did everything wrong. I must have something to do with it.”

Bale has also been linked with Juventus but is said to prefer a return to the Premier League.
