Zelda: A Link To The Past map recreated in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and it looks amazing

An enterprising fan of both Zelda and Animal Crossing has created the ultimate homage, as they terraform their entire map in tribute.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out for almost two weeks now and that means some people have started to unlock the game’s most advanced features, including the Island Designer that lets you change the course of rivers and create or remove cliff edges.

With those tools you can basically recreate the island from scratch, terraforming it to however you want, and the most impressive example so far is Reddit user VaynMaanen, who’s recreated the map from SNES classic The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past.

And by recreate we don’t mean it looks a bit similar, but they’ve got everything in there, from all the complex waterways to the Desert of Mystery in the south west. The museum stands in for Hyrule Castle and all the villagers live in a recreation of Kakariko Village.

Admittedly, there weren’t any airports in the original game but still, it’s a bang up job and they’ve even managed to get the cliffs of Death Mountain right, at least topographically speaking.

The Link outfit looks hand-made but there usually is one in Animal Crossing, it’s just quite rare and presumably they haven’t come across it yet.

Apparently, it took four ‘gruelling’ days of work to get the map looking like this, which still seems impressively quick to us.

The Island Designer is unlocked after you manage to get K.K. Slider to visit your island, although all the individual options need to be bought using Nook Miles, so it can take quite a while till you’ve got all the options necessary to start terraforming yourself.

There aren’t any Gorons though (pic: Reddit)
