When it comes to getting ready for a special occasion or just giving yourself a little pamper, adding some glitter polish to your nails can make a big difference.
The glitter is fun and adds a touch of glamour to your look.
But when you paint the product on, you might find that it doesn’t look quite as good as you’d hoped – going on clear with a few flecks of glitter here and there.
That’s because you’ve been putting it on all wrong, well according to nail vlogger Kelli Marissa, you have anyway.

Thankfully she’s revealed a better way to make sure you get maximum sparkle.
In a video on YouTube, Kelli shares a tutorial for glitter nails and in order to achieve a similar look with your own nail polish, you’ll need a few items.
The list includes a base coat, liquid latex, a make-up sponge, your favourite glitter nail varnish and a top coat.
For those wondering, liquid latex can be purchased from most costume stores or from online retailers such as Amazon.

So how does she do it?
Kelli begins by applying a base coat to her unpainted nails.
She then applies a layer of liquid latex to the skin around her nail, so it doesn’t get covered in glitter.
The third step is to apply the glitter nail polish to the edge of a make-up sponge. The sponge soaks up the polish, leaving behind plenty of glitter.
This glitter is then dabbed onto the finger nail and left to dry.
Once it’s dry, simply peel off the liquid latex and apply a top coat to the glitter to give it a sleek, shiny finish.
And Voilà, fabulous glitter nails!
