‘It’s great that YouTubers are calling out counterfeit make up for not giving shoppers the same quality as the genuine brands. We are however keen to make sure they don’t expose themselves to health risks in the process.’
While 20-year-old James, who has a following of more than 15 million, has made multiple videos calling out ‘fake’ makeup brands, his most popular is a video which sees him comparing a knock-off version of his own palette against the real thing.
With 30 million views, the video shows the beauty guru making up half his face with each product.
Other influencers who have shared videos include NataliesOutlet who has more than seven million subscribers, Laura Lee who boasts more than two million subscribers, and Mia Maples with two million.
Meanwhile, James, who was recently embroiled in a row with fellow beauty guru Tati Westbrook, has been taking a break from YouTube and recently cancelled his Sisters tour.
The YouTuber explained: ‘Obviously a lot has gone on in the past few weeks which has led to many people, including myself, wondering what’s going to happen to the tour.
‘We’ve officially come to the very, very tough decision that I am cancelling the Sisters tour.
‘I know this sucks and people are going to be sad and upset about it, trust me, I’m not happy either.’
He added: ‘I want to make it very, very clear, I made the decision to pull the tour. This is 100% my decision, none of the venues or brands pulled out. It was almost completely sold out, less than 1% who bought tickets called for refunds.’
