You Can Watch Star Trek: Picard For Free For the Next Month

CBS All Access is the latest streamer to provide an extended trial period during this period of social distancing and quarantine, and just in time, too, as this Thursday marks the end of Star Trek: Picard Season 1.

The announcement was made via Sir Patrick Stewart‘s social media channels: Starting today, until April 24th, you can watch CBS All Access for free in the United States using the code: GIFT.

The announcement comes with an emotional gut punch of a video featurette, which has Stewart, producer Alex Kurtzman, astronaut Mae Jemison, Anson Mount, and others talking about what Star Trek has meant to them and to the wider world. It’s pretty damn wonderful, and exactly the kind of pickup you might need in the current climate of fear and uncertainty. (If you’re anything like me, you’ve already been binge-watching Star Trek: The Next Generation for comfort during this difficult time.) Check it out below…

Star Trek: Picard has already greenlit a Season 2, which means we will be getting more of Jean-Luc “JL” Picard’s story down the road. While Michael Chabon will be stepping down as showrunner for the second season so he can focus on adapting his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Klay for CBS TV/Showtime, Chabon will stay on as an executive producer for Picard Season 2 alongside Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Patrick Stewart, Terry Matalas, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth, with Aaron Baiers and Kristin Beyer serving as co-executive producers.
