If you’ve got a case of post-Christmas wanderlust, you may already be planning your holidays for the year ahead.

Covid restrictions were responsible for scuppering many trips overseas in the last two years, and as a result we found a new love for holidays on British shores.

Whether you’re cautious of heading abroad or want to explore nearby beauty spots, there’s so much to see on a UK ‘staycation’. You can now even stay in your very own lighthouse, for a unique break without the need for air travel.

Argus Cottage at Pendeen Lighthouse is available to rent through KiddieHolidays, located on the North Cornish coast with incredible views across the Atlantic Ocean.

You won’t have to man the lighthouse during your stay, instead bedding down in the two-bedroom holiday home beside the structure that was originally home to staff there.

The cottage comes with one king-sized double room and a single bedroom that’s ideal for children, as well as a travel cot and highchair available for families with a baby.

A fully-equipped kitchen, dining room, walled patio area, and a comfortable lounge area with sea views and a television make up the space.

Guests will also get a welcome hamper on arrival featuring several local delicacies, essentials such as milk, tea, and bread, and a complimentary bottle of wine.

Found in the picturesque village of Pendeen only six miles from Land’s End, the location makes it a brilliant place to enjoy a seaside break.

Pendeen Lighthouse is within a Site of Special Scientific Interest and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can watch the sea from your living room or spot seals on the clifftop, as well as visiting destinations like Penzance that are close by.

Other popular family attractions include visiting St Michael’s Mount, swimming at Jubilee Pool in Penzance, exploring Mousehole Harbour or spending the day at the beautiful Sennen Cove.

Who needs a package break when stunning landscapes and activities like this are just a drive or train away?

Argus Cottage costs from £349 a night with a three-night minimum stay and a small additional charge for families who bring dogs. Full details can be found here.
