Laggan sleeps five people and offers amazing views of the sea – but as the nearest road is a three-hour walk away, you can only get there by using a small boat.
It’s situated on the Ardnish Peninsula in the Scottish highlands and you can expect a total disconnect from modern life, with no electricity, wifi or TV and very limited phone signal.
The property is lit by paraffin lamps and comes with a Calor gas fridge and cooker, along with two wood-burning stoves that provide hot water for the bathroom.
It comes with a small boat so you can explore the coastline and nearby private beach, or if you want to explore on foot, there’s a beautiful wild landscape.
The description says: ‘It offers a holiday experience like no other and ideal for those who enjoy being outdoors, who love wildlife (with seals, red deer, shags and even sea eagles to spot) and who enjoy being by the sea combing and pottering on the beach from dawn to dusk (and later by the glow of a beach fire).
‘Laggan may not have electricity but it has all the facilities you need to keep you warm and cosy, well fed and even ice for your G&T! Sitting on a peninsular, you can enjoy pure isolation with no neighbours, roads or cars – just the sound of the sea a stone’s throw from the house and spectacular views to the Scottish islands of Much and Eigg on a fine day.

When guests arrive, they will be able to park their car at the road and will then meet a caretaker who will help show them the ropes and ferry everything to the other side.
Offered by Independent Cottages, a seven night stay costs from £950 for five people.
Inside, there are two bedrooms and a cosy snug, with gabled windows so you can see the amazing view from the minute you wake up.
Dogs are welcome if you want to bring your pet, but the cottage is not suitable for children under five.
