You can go on a live safari in your lounge during lockdown to see lions in the Kruger National Park and the Masai Mara


SINCE going into lockdown, we’ve all had to learn to adapt to our new, and hopefully temporary, way of life  – and with that, they way we do things has changed too. 

We’ve seen many attractions and places of interest offer virtual tours, including museums and even Buckingham Place, and now you can even go on a live safari to see real wild animals from your home  – and it’ll make you feel like you’re actually there.

WildEarth is offering live streamed safari tours straight from The Sabi Sands and The Maasai Mara where you’ll be able to see lions, leopards and hyenas up close in the wild.

SafariLIVE is an award winning, expert hosted LIVE safari, broadcast directly from the African wilderness into your home – and it’s completely free.

The Sabi Sands is part of the Greater Kruger National Park found in the north-east Corner of South Africa and the Maasai Mara National Reserve in south-western Kenya is the northern-most section of the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem.

Both offer a vast expanse of wilderness that Africa’s iconic animals can roam in freely.

The live show enables you to interact with an expert ranger in real time and even includes safari vehicles, guides on foot, drones, balloons, rovers and remote cams all in search of their favourite characters – in this case, the animals.

According to the website, the safari shows are completely unscripted and unpredictable and is reality TV as it is supposed to be – authentic and real.

Among the animals you’ll spot are a variety of male and female lions, cheetahs and leopards from a number of regions  – and you might even learn a thing or two about what makes them unique.

The tours are available twice a day – sunrise and sunset –  in local time, so check out the WildEarth website for accurate timings so you don’t miss out.
