Lewis Brindley, co-founder of gaming group Yogscast, has spoken out on the no re-entry rules following fan confusion.
The co-founder of the group has commented on re-entry rules for convention YogCon ahead of its launch in Bristol for 3 and 4 August.
It will be the debut for the convention, named in association with the gaming group.
However fans took to Twitter to discuss a no re-entry rule found on their tickets.
One fan said: ‘Having some pretty strong anxiety over this “no re-entry” rule for YogCon. I want to go, and I know I won’t be able to get my ticket money back if I don’t go, but the idea of being confined (or, if I leave, missing out) is make me pretty terrified right now.’
Many fans may choose to take time from a convention due to anxieties, needing to rest for health reasons or to find food alternatives.
The sold out event is set to take place at Motion in Bristol, with a maximum capacity of 800 people.
Responding to the issues, co-founder of the Yogscast, Lewis Brindley, reassured on Reddit: ‘I’m sure if people need to leave and re-enter I doubt it will be a problem.’
The gaming presenter added a further email response from the organiser of the event, sent to a fan to reassure them that it ‘has a building section (where we’ll have two of the stages, gaming, signings and other activities), as well as two large outdoor areas.
‘One of which will be quite a chilled quiet zone and another that will host the Outdoor stage and food vendors.
‘It is a very large space and as organisers we were under the impression this will give people enough freedom and flexibility to enjoy the show or escape to the outdoors.’
The confusion over re-entry follows news of CEO, Mark Turpin, and a content creator, Matthew Meredith both leaving the company following sexual allegations.
Mark Turpin, released a statement onto Reddit that said: ‘Just to let you know I’ve stepped down as CEO of the Yogscast.
‘I have sent some inappropriate messages to several members of our community and I’m deeply embarrassed about this error of judgement. There’s no justification or excuse for my behaviour. I was in a position of considerable responsibility and you all deserved better from me.’
Lewis responded to these allegations: ‘It’s been an eye opening week for me – we owe everything to our community so it’s important we deal with bad stuff like this responsibly. I’ve seen actual evidence that looks fake, and fake evidence that looks truthful – so we needed time to look into all of this.’
