Himesh, 28, who plays singer-songwriter Jack Malik, said jokingly: ‘It was fake,’ adding that press interviews together are ‘really tough’.

‘It was really hard,’ Lily added in between nervous giggles. ‘Most interviews we’ve requested to do separately.’

Yesterday is Himesh’s breakthrough role, most known to viewers as Tamwar Masood in UK soap EastEnders.

‘I make sure I surround myself with people who love me and keep me in check.’

Grateful for the opportunity to star as a lead in his first film, Himesh told the paper: ‘It’s crazy, really crazy. I can’t thank my lucky stars enough.’
