xQc calls Valorant players ‘cowards’ for quitting Overwatch

Riot Games’ new shooter Valorant is already a huge hit on Twitch and you can tell because of how upset some streamers are getting about it.

It’s only in closed beta at the moment but Valorant, from League Of Legends makers Riot Games, is already one of the most popular games on Twitch with 16 million viewers – beating the likes of Counter-Strike, Minecraft, and Fortnite.

Whether it’ll remain that successful over time remains to be seen, but its sudden appearance on the scene has rattled the established order and a number of streamers, including Overwatch pro Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel.

Although it’s by no means a clone, Overwatch is one of the games Valorant is most similar to and Riot has been targeting a number of popular Overwatch players to promote it, and that’s what xQc is not happy about.

Even though xQc has unofficially quit Overwatch many times he claimed not to understand why so many players were publicly quitting the games they’re known for and instead switching to Valorant.

The various statement in favour of Valorant, where players claim to be cutting all ties with their previous games, certainly are a bit odd and tit’s that xQc is most upset about.

‘I’m not kidding, I really don’t know why people feel that they need to run a statement about them quitting a game,’ xQc said on his livestream.

‘’Oh, guys I am an Overwatch creator. Guys, I’m quitting Overwatch forever, f*** you guys.’ It’s so like, weird’.

He’s probably right too, that many players will probably end up coming back after a while, once the initial hype has died down and given Valorant’s long-term appeal hasn’t yet been proven.

‘You look like a coward,’ said xQc. ‘It achieves nothing, it achieves absolutely nothing.’

xQc isn’t the only popular streamer who’s not sold on the game though, with Dr Disrespect complaining that while it’s fun to play it’s not much fun to watch.

He thinks the same of Overwatch though, which hasn’t exactly done too badly over the years. Although since the release of the beta so many esports players have left Overwatch that the Tier 2 scene in America is already in trouble.
