Xherdan Shaqiri's message for Jurgen Klopp after scoring for Liverpool vs Everton

Xherdan Shaqiri has told Jurgen Klopp he is ready to help fire Liverpool to the Premier League title after scoring in the win over Everton .

Liverpool boss Klopp sprung a surprise with his selection for Wednesday’s Merseyside derby at Anfield, with Shaqiri earning his first start of the season as Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson were all rested.

Shaqiri had previously been limited to just 15 minutes of action this season after a couple of months of injury frustration – but he repaid his manager’s faith with a goal as Liverpool despatched Everton 5-2.

And the Swiss star says he is primed for more action as Klopp prepares to juggles the demands of a likely nine games in December due to Liverpool’s involvement in the Club World Cup.

“I’m ready, I think the coach saw that too in training,” Shaqiri said after Wednesday’s game, in quotes reported by the Liverpool Echo . “I trained very well and today he gave me the chance and I think I played very well.

“At the end of the day it’s important to win games with my team, we won it as a team, and obviously when I can contribute it’s always good. Let’s hope for more games.”

Shaqiri said he was “feeling good” after a spell out following a “dangerous” calf injury.

“I’ve been injured [but] thank God I don’t have knee problems or something. I had some muscle problems so I just needed a few weeks to recover well,” he said.

“The calf is very dangerous to get another injury and I had this so obviously it was not nice but I stayed positive and tried to come back.
