Xbox Series X will be £130 cheaper this Black Friday claims leaker

A reliable source of hardware leaks says Microsoft plans to push a very attractive discount on the Xbox Series X this month.

While Microsoft has often offered the Xbox Series S at a discount during certain sales periods, like Black Friday, the Xbox Series X has either stayed full price or seen only minor price cuts that are barely promoted.

Last year, the best you could get was a £20 reduction and this was before Microsoft bumped the console’s price up from £449.99 to £479.99.

There was chatter of some retailers offering a discounted Xbox Series X bundle that comes with the new Call Of Duty, but now another rumour claims that a far more substantial reduction is planned for the Black Friday period.

This comes courtesy of Dealabs’ billbil-kun, who has always been accurate when it comes to hardware rumours. Just last month, they accurately leaked a new Nintendo Switch OLED bundle that includes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a three-month online subscription.

Since Dealabs is a French website, there are no UK pricings but billbil-kun believes the discount is part of an official campaign by Microsoft. So, it’d be weird if it was exclusive to France and didn’t come to the UK as well.

Apparently, the Xbox Series X has been seen listed at €399, making it €150 cheaper than its normal asking price of €549.

If we assume a one-to-one conversion in the UK, that would make the console roughly £130 cheaper here, bringing it down to £349.99, which’d certainly be an attractive offer.

Dealabs notes that this offer will only be available from November 20 to November 27, aka the week of Black Friday (the day itself lands on November 24).

It’d make sense for Microsoft to offer some kind of discount on Xbox Series X consoles. In its latest financial results, it admitted that overall hardware sales had declined by 7%, meaning the launch of Starfield wasn’t enough to win over new customers.

You can likely expect Sony to offer a Black Friday discount on the PlayStation 5 too since it’ll want to push out old stock to make room for the newer, slimmer model that’s launching this month.
