Xbox Live WARNING: Download and try a new free Xbox One game NOW

Xbox One gamers looking for something new to try out this weekend can download a free game from the Microsoft Store.

This comes as part of any Xbox Live Gold membership and includes the latest Free Play Days promotions from the tech giant.

There is only one such game being featured this weekend, alongside the recently updated Games with Gold July 2019 lineup.

It won’t cost you anything to download this classic Xbox title and it comes with the added bonus of being able to buy it at half price.

The latest free Xbox One game available via Xbox Live is Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition.

There’s been a lot of Borderlands talk this year, with developers Gearbox announcing the third title in the popular series, along with its 2019 release date.

And while this smash-hit title might not be new, it comes with a lot of free content and plenty of stuff to do.

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition has been available to play for free since Thursday, July 18, and will remain free to play for Gold members until Monday, July 22.

It was announced by Microsoft’s Major Nelson earlier this week in a blog post, revealing that Borderlands would also be available to download on Xbox One X with the Ultra HD pack.

Developers Gearbox has revealed that Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is 50% off to buy, with all progress carrying over from the Free Play Days event.

This new price drop means it is at its cheapest for some time and can be picked up for £12.49 instead of the usual £24.99.

And unlike past Free Play Day events, Borderlands GOTY cannot be played as part of an existing Xbox Game Pass membership.

“Discover the co-op shooter-looter that started it all, crammed with content and enhancements!” the official game description reads.

“Equip bazillions of guns as one of four trigger-happy mercenaries, each with unique RPG skills.

“Take on the lawless desolate planet Pandora in pursuit of powerful alien technology: The Vault.

“With new weapons, visual upgrades, all 4 add-on packs and more, enjoy the highly acclaimed FPS/RPG solo or in 4-player split-screen co-op.”

DLC includes…

THE ZOMBIE ISLAND OF DOCTOR NED: Enter the corporate owned small town known as Jakobs Cove and put an end to the rumours of the walking “undead.” New areas, new missions, new enemies, Oh My!

MAD MOXXI’S UNDERDOME RIOT: Celebrate the grand opening of Marcus Bank by taking on hundreds of foes in the only competitive arena around where you’re coming back famous… or not at all.

THE SECRET ARMORY OF GENERAL KNOXX: Want more of the Borderlands story and more loot than you could possibly figure out what to do with? Add new guns, missions, vehicles and more!

CLAPTRAP’S NEW ROBOT REVOLUTION: This destructive adventure invites you to battle a vicious new threat, a massive uprising of your former friends: the claptraps.

Other Free-to-play alternatives include Apex Legends, Fortnite Battle Royale and Dauntless. Meanwhile, Games with Gold was recently updated, meaning there are new games to add to your Xbox One library.

Inside is still available to download alongside Big Crown: Showdown on Xbox One. But Xbox Live Gold members can no longer download and play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for Xbox 360 and Backwards Compatibility, having been replaced by Meet the Robinsons earlier this week.
