The end of The X Factor: Celebrity episode tonight saw Simon Cowell phone Vinnie Jones to ask him to be on next week’s live show.
Vinnie, 54, pulled out of the initial audition stages, following his wife Tanya’s passing in July.
Simon rang Vinnie and ask that he perform during the live stages of the competition.
The 60-year-old judge said: “We’d love you to be on the live shows.”
In the emotional phone call Vinnie agreed and said Tanya “wanted [him] to do it.”
He continued: “Tanya was very excited about it.
“I’d love to.”
Host Dermot O’Leary spoke about Vinnie’s absence at the start of tonight’s episode.
He said the actor couldn’t be there for “personal reasons”.
But fans were thrilled when they found out at the end of the show that Vinnie would still get to take part in the singing competition.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: “Aw bless Vinnie, hope he does well”
While another wrote: “Ohhhh Vinnie Jones…chuffed he’s gonna be on live shows!”
“Vinnie Jones on X Factor? Buzzing!” said a third.
Vinnie said last week on Good Morning Britain that Tanya “dreamed” about him doing X Factor: Celebrity.
The pair were married for 24 years after tying the knot in Watford back in 1994.
X Factor returns next Saturday at 8.30pm on ITV
