Bobby Lashley has fired back at haters and insists it’s one of the most exciting and ‘hottest’ things to happen in WWE.

The All Mighty has shrugged off criticism of the ongoing soap opera storyline between himself, the Bulgarian Brute and the latter’s real-life wife Lana, which took another return on this week’s Raw as the pair filed for divorce.

In a defiant response, Bobby exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I’m always dealing with differing opinions so that’s nothing new. It’s part of the business. If the fans watch then they watch, and they know it’s going to be one of the hottest angles we have right now.’

The feud has been a change of pace from a lot of the current angles WWE is featuring on television at the moment, with over-the-top performances from Lana and a real smugness from Bobby every time he steps out with Rusev’s love.

Despite all the naysayers, the live crowds have begun to react in a great way in recent weeks, with huge cheers for Rusev and a torrent of boos directed at his foes.

‘It’s a lot of fun, and being on TV is great,’ Bobby admitted.

‘I came back after beating myself up for 15 years, so to do something a bit different with a storyline on WWE TV is always good.’

Lashley returned to WWE in April 2018 after some time away, and since leaving a decade earlier he wrestled around the world while also competing in the world of mixed martial arts.

With a record of 15-0-2 – including bouts in the likes of Strikeforce and Bellator MMA – the athlete is well placed to offer some words of advice to the likes of boxing world champion Tyson Fury and former UFC star Cain Valasquez as they look to transition into the world of sports entertainment.

Asked how he feels about people making the jump from combat sports, he said: ‘It’s great. Ultimately the more eyes on the product the better. There will be a lot more crossover in the coming months and years I think. For those that do come, though, they need do the training like [Ronda Rousey] and Cain though.’

When it comes to his own career, Lashley still has some clear goals he wants to achieve, both in terms of becoming the top dog with a world championship reign, and with a couple of dream opponents to really give the fans something special.

‘I want to win the Universal title or WWE World title. It has to be with a hot angle though,’ he explained.

‘There are definitely guys I want to get my hands on to put on a show for the crowd – like Brock and Roman. There are lots of things I want to accomplish.’

*WWE: Tables, Ladders and Chairs airs on Sunday, 15th December at 1am on Sky Box Office and the WWE Network.
